At the museum exhibition domes you can see an accompanying history of the Hungarian automobile cars. The oldest auto mobiles made from the 19th century by Peugeot in 1898 and an 1899 Oldsmobile.
The beginning of the Hungarian automotive industry is represented by János Csonka’s Postal car Collection, designed in 1908, which still has the original tires
The motor cars Magomobil and Magotax manufactured by the Hungarian General Machine Factory (Magyar Általános Gépgyár) were used as taxi cabs in Budapest in the 1920s and 1930s. After WW2 a new domestic passenger car was planned to resume with a production of a small car lead by János Pentelényi.

"Hungarian Railways are 150 years old"

The "150 Years of the Hungarian State Railways' exhibition gives an overview of the history of railways in Hungary from the beginning till today. One interesting feature of this exhibition of contemporary turn of the 19th and 20th century is the reconstructed building of the railway station. Out of the original vehicles the oldest one is a steam engine manufactured, in 1860, by the Southern Railway Company. The greatest part of the exhibition hall is occupied by railway models scaled down at a ratio of 1:5, representing the most characteristic engines and carriages of Hungarian Railways.
From the objects and documents shown we can get acquainted with the history of the Hungarian network of railways, it’s evolution, the major areas, the outstanding prominent personalities of the development of railway technology as well as the influence railways had on the community and on the organization of the society.
The original vehicles from the last century recall the image of a small town train station. The station building built up here was not taken as a sample of an existing station or one that had existed at a time but it shows the characteristics of Hungarian railway stations in general. The visitors may get onto a narrow-gauge railway carriage of the 19
th century, they may try to determine how a defected railway wheel can be detected with a hammer, and can get familiar with the rules applied to rail travelers in the 19th century. The experience is completed by a total of five big topographic maps of various related scale

Hungarian Navigation

The shape of the exhibition reminds you of a ship, we feel as if we were walking on deck of an old paddle-wheel steamer: on one side the hand-rail and on the other the cabins. In these “cabins” the models can be seen to get acquainted with the Hungarian ships sailing on the Danube, on Lake Balaton and on the seas. Next to the hand-rail we can see interesting objects recalling the past shipping. Ship lamps, rescue benches, pistons, a water purification apparatus and compasses are set beside each other. In the middle of the “deck” we can find the gangway and everybody might grasp the rudder. It is worthwhile to cast a glimpse into the lower part of the boat too, where a ship played a sharp sounding bell.

Hall of celebrities

The Hall of Celebrities commemorates Hungarian discoverers and travelers that ventured to go places where no Hungarian had ever risked going before. Here we can see the sports sailboat St. Jupát, in which Nándor Fa and József Gál sailed around the world in 1985-1987, the spaceship, i. e. the space capsule Soyus 35, in which the first Hungarian astronaut Bertalan Farkas returned from space, the 1:10 model of the airship with rigid body designed by David Schwarz, whose patent was bought by count Zeppelin, and Aladár Zsélyi’s aircraft from 1908

The Bridge Garden
Owing to their dimensions bridges are the relics of the history of transport that are most difficult to preserve. In the “Bridge Garden” formed in front of the Museum of Transport, however, we managed to place some very important relics of the history of transport. Of course, these are not entire bridges but bridge sections but even these can give you an idea of what bridge building was like in Hungary in past epochs
