Coach Museum at Parád Cifra Stall
Place: Parád Carriage Museum, Parád (Parád, Kossuth Lajos utca 217. H-3244 )
The Cifra Stall in Parád exhibits coaches, carriages, sleighs, hansoms, and fiacres from the 19th and the 20th centuries. Within the framework of this exhibition we may get a glimpse in the history of once world-famous Hungarian carriage-manufacturing, while also having the opportunity to inspect the most beautiful carriages.
The Coach Museum opened in 1971. Most of the exhibited carriages were manufactured in the workshop of Kölber brothers at the end of the 19th century; moreover, the exhibition comprehensivley presents every phase of carriage manufacturing. In the rooms functioning as museum exhibiting space in the stall – beside contemplating the memories of carriage manufacturing – we may also follow through the entire process of carriage building. We may get a glimpse into the tricks of the professions and crafts connected to carriage manufacturing: the work of the wheelsmith, the cartwright, the blacksmith, the locksmith, the harness-maker, the upholsterer, and the glazer are introduced.
